Responsibilities

I came to live in Bar Hill in 1972, arriving from London with my husband.  Once my three children arrived, I began to join Toddlers, Playgroup and became a School Governor. I am now a member of the Residents Association, a Parish Councillor and District Councillor.  I am enjoying the way the village is evolving with new people and activities.  It is a vibrant place to live with so many facilities and societies.

I have lived in the Bar Hill since 1988, both of my sons were born here and have both attended the Primary School and played football for the Colts.  My husband also played football for the village many years ago.  I've been involved with the Pre-School and PTA as well as helping with various football teams over the years.  We have a chocolate labrador, Frank, who is now 2, and keeps me busy.  I work in financial services as an HR manager, dealing with companies who are in some kind of financial distress and either become insolvent or are sold to a new owner.  I wanted to join the Parish Council because I care about the village I live in and I felt it important to be involved in decisions affecting the village.

My wife and I moved into Bar Hill in August 2014, two days before the flood, having first seen the Village when the cherry trees were in full bloom.  We were taken by the variety of trees, the multitude of open green spaces and surrounding countryside.  Our comment at that time, "They do not build new villages/towns like this anymore!"  Bar Hill definitely is unique.  As a Parish Councillor, I have come to appreciate the issues that the Council faces day to day as well as the limited authority that the Council has in the overall governance of Bar Hill.  Volunteering to be a Councillor is my way of contributing to the well-being of the Bar Hill Community.
